April 16th, 2010. The Modula4. What is it? It's essentially a Tone Plug A/B box that comes with four Tone Plugs. You can insert two Tone Plugs into it at once and use the footswitch to swap between them. But it offers a good deal more than just that. The Modula4 also has two mega-duty (rated at 750 watts!) ball-tip toggle switches that give you two more options. When flipped DOWN the corresponding Tone Plug port is no longer engaged and that "Tone Plug channel" (if you will) reverts to a built-in Overdrive tone that is pre-installed in the "host" pedal. So with the Modula4 you have potentially 4 separate voices avalable to you at the flip of a switch or a tap of the foot.

The Modula4 is easily connected to any Farndurk pedal that is equipped with a Tone Plug port. Simply use a standard patch cord commonly found in just about any music store. Insert the patchcord into the Host Pedal's Tone Plug port (such as a Valven, or an X, or perhaps a Model 9), and then into the center jack on the top of the Modula4...

The only other connection you need to make is to supply the Modula4 with 9vdc. As with all jacks on all Farndurk pedals, the DC jack on the Modula4 is mounted on the "North End" of the pedal so as to be as out of the way as absolutely possible. The Modula4 only needs 9vdc to operate the indicator LEDs. It will function just fine with NO power if need be, just that the indicator LEDs won't operate.

Below, the Modula4 is being used to expand a Vmax ... "just a toob screamer" .... kinda thinkin' not! While our Valven circuit used in the Vmax is a *re-imagining* of the old 808, the Vmax is so far past being "just an 808" it's nearly ridiculous. And expand it with the Modula4 and things get psycho. With this rig you have FOUR internal OpAmp chips to choose from, FOUR midrange boost voices, and FOUR Tone Plug voices .. all at-the-ready and on-line. Tube Screamer indeed.
