The BOOSTEN 2 channel booster ... well ... almost 2 channels .. sorta-kinda.

This is one trick little booster. The circuit engine is the TWINAMP pcb which is a matched pair of a gain circuit that was cut right from the JOE compressor. NOTE: This pedal is NOT .. repeat NOT a compressor of any kind in any way. Anyhow the preamp and output gain amp out of the JOE sounds so good on it's own that we isolated it as it's own entity, doubled it, and put it on it's own pcb named the TWINAMP. This effectively offers you 2 channels of the mighty cool gain stage out of the JOE. This thing sounds amazingly good. Ridiculously low parts count keep your guitar's tone intact no matter how loud you make the BOOSTEN. There's so few components in the audio line that there's very little your guitar's sound is forced to travel through, keeping your guitar's natural sound solid and obvious.

We did the same thing in the MODEL 9 and MODEL 7 by isolating the gain stage from the JOE and giving it it's own true bypass. Well, that worked out very well so what we have here is two of those gain stages put on a single pcb. I give you a choice of how to accesss them via a toggle switch, a little true bypass going on, some LEDS ... and we have the BOOSTEN .. :)

Modes for moods.

The BOOSTEN has a minitoggle that provides a choice between one of two modes. It actually is changing what the footswitch is doing for you.

• A/B MODE (toggle UP - center LED ON): The footswitch provides two fully adjustable amplifers .. A and B. You can use the footswitch to A/B the two boost channels, the LEDS down by the footswitch tell you which channel the BOOSTEN is in. Know that the BOOSTEN is "always on" in this mode of operation.
• A/Bypass MODE (toggle DOWN - center LED OFF): Now the footswitch provides channel "A" for boost, and channel "B" for True Bypass. This mode allows you to use the footswitch to provide one channel of fully adjustable amplifed signal and one channel of True Bypass.

If you have the BOOSTEN in A/B mode you can also bypass it by placing it in channel "B" and flipping the toggle DOWN. The pedal is now in A/Bypass mode and is bypassed.

So how cool is that! Slick, yea? We like it too .. the Farn approves.

How to hear this pedal:

(below) We don't have a video or audio demo of this unit .. per se .. just yet. However, this exact same circuit is loaded into the MODEL 9 and is clearly audible on it's own in the video. The second gain stage in the MODEL 9 is isolated via the center footswitch so that it may be used as an independent clean boost stage. Brett Kingman uses the MODEL 9 in this mode several times throught both of the videos of the MODEL 9. This also gives you an opprtunity to hear how the BOOSTEN circuit (as well as the JOE) cooperates with other circuits and amps in these videos simply because they're in the MODEL 9.

(below) In this video Brett Kingman uses our prototype clean amplifier pedal (simply named "BOOST" back then) combined with our basic X overdrive unit. This again will alow you sonic access to how the BOOSTEN works with other devices. It's an excellent example of two of our circuits used together, that ended up inspiring 2 all new pedals. Great video of an X with the "Brit Voice" mod done to it. By itself the modded X is nice and wooly sounding .. just what I was shooting for. Very vintage Marshall sounding. However when driven by the Boost electronic amplifier (currently known as the BOOSTEN psuedo 2-channel amplifier), it comes alive and sounds completely awesome ... instant *almost* JCM800 Plexi. Oh and jsyk, the Modal Overdrive and second gain stages of the MODEL 9 can be voiced exactly as you hear in this video of that combo of pedals.
